ABBREVIATIONS AND TERMS
CORDURA® Fabric - is one of the most respected brands, retailers and militaries around the world use when they need to make a product that’s durable, versatile and reliable. Constructed using high tenacity fiber technologies, weight for weight, CORDURA® fabrics are exceptionally durable. The fabric is also lightweight. CORDURA® fabric also NIR compliant.
Kevlar® is an organic fiber in the aromatic polyamide family. The unique properties and distinct chemical composition of wholly aromatic polyamides (aramids) distinguish them—and especially Kevlar®—from other commercial, man-made fibers. Kevlar® has a unique combination of high strength, high modulus, toughness and thermal stability. It was developed for demanding industrial and advanced-technology applications. Currently, many types of Kevlar® are produced to meet a broad range of end uses.
DWR coating - DWR (durable water repellent) is a coating added to fabrics at the factory to make them water-resistant (or hydrophobic)
Velcro - Velcro is a fabric hook and loop fastener
Duraflex - Made by Woojin Plastic based out of Korea. Duraflex is the world's leading brand in plastic buckles & accessories for the outdoor sporting goods industry.
NIR (Near-infrared) - Management technology that is used to help prevent detection by night vision devices. NIR compliant gear uses a special fabric that allows the equipment to appear at the same radiation level as the surrounding terrain. Which is making them more difficult to detect.
YKK Zippers - The worlds largest zipper manufacturer. High Quality and rugged zipper.
Combat Vent System (CVS®) - An innovative ventilation system used in backpacks that provided increased comfort for their users. Made of contoured foam profiles with multiple air channels that are combined with airy mesh. The CVS® keeps the pack off the back which enhances air circulation preventing heat build-up and sweating while the stiff foam ensures comfort and stability.
Molle/Pals System - Modular lightweight load-carrying Equipment. The current generation of load-bearing equipment. The system is derived from the use of PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System) which is webbing for modular pouch attachment. The Molle/Pals system we use is laser cut into the fabric.
